2014 INDUSTRY DANCE AWARDS HONORING NIGEL LYTHGOE, PAULA ABDUL AND MORE,
ROCKED THE HOUSE AT AVALON HOLLYWOOD ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT

LOS ANGELES, CA (September 12, 2014) – AVALON Hollywood was electrified Wednesday night as it hosted the 2014 Industry Dance Awards (IDA) to a packed, talented and prestigious gathering of entertainment’s top professionals! Featuring bombastic, non-stop dance numbers choreographed by the nation’s finest (including a wonderful opening number by Liz Imperio, personal choreographer to Jennifer Lopez,) the ceremony was created to honor the artistic achievements of dancers and choreographers who have raised industry standards by creating opportunities for dance to explode into the mainstream.

Another main objective of IDA is to build awareness and donation for cancer research/prevention and this year’s ceremony raised a respectable sum to benefit four non-profit organizations; Keep A Breast Foundation, Breast Cancer Angels, Bright Pink and the Circle of Hope Foundation, best known for its “I’m A Dancer Against Cancer” campaign.

“The show was a huge success and we’ve received the utmost support from the dance community’s biggest names,” said IDA organizers. “We are humbled knowing that our influence here will inspire and ignite passion in a generation of young talent, as well as helping cancer research. After an evening that we had, we are most certainly looking forward to next year’s show!”

Hailed as the dance event of the season, celebrity guests included Nigel Lythgoe, who was honored by Adam Shankman with the “Innovator Award” for his work on So You Think You Can Dance and for discovering and producing young, raw talent that have become some of the biggest names in music and dance over the last decade. Other celebrities involved were Paula Abdul, who was honored by Kenny Ortega with the “Icon Award” for her legendary career, as well as continued voice for dancers and the dance community worldwide. Mary Murphy, Joe Tremaine, Rhee Gold, Napoleon & Tabitha, Ricky Ubeda, Michael Rooney, Jackie Sleight and numerous others were also recognized and in attendance.
