Childhood Cancer Foundation of Southern California (CCFSC) is more than 700 families strong committed to serving children with cancer and their families throughout Southern California emotionally, financially, educationally and with emergency assistance. CCFSC prides itself in being a very personal organization, serving the oncology community since 1981 powered by over 200 volunteers and a small staff of two. Support begins at the moment of diagnosis and remains available through every stage of treatment and beyond.

Every three and a half minutes a parent hears the devastating news, “Your child has cancer.” With these words, normal life stops and a difficult new journey begins; a journey that will test families physically, emotionally, socially, and financially. Success rates in childhood cancer have led to survival rates of up to 80%, however, the emotional, social, psychological and medical support is an on-going need. These children and teenagers benefit from a program that gives them the opportunity to have normal life experiences in spite of their life threatening diagnosis. Support services include: holiday parties, family camp, special events, educational material, emergency assistance with food and gas needs, as well as many other support programs.

CCFSC has also developed an integral adolescent program unique to our geographical area of support, the Teen Connection Program. With this program we are able to provide ample opportunities for teens diagnosed with cancer to meet with youth and adult facilitators to enjoy life as a teen, socialize, share experiences, receive peer support and educational information about cancer therapy, survivorship and scholarship opportunities.

On behalf of Childhood Cancer Foundation:

Childhood Cancer Foundation is honored to partner with the Industry Dance Awards to provide Hope and Inspiration to families who have a child diagnosed with cancer. The diagnosis of cancer is devastating at any age, and our mission is to directly interact with these families and provide family support and HOPE. Often times, people do not hear about our organization until they hear the words, “your child has cancer.” We are grateful for the exposure and awareness the Industry Dance Awards will bring to this disease and our support program.

Thank you,
Armida Kersey
